CREATIVE MOULDING TECHNIQUES
Simon Zsolt József
(Hungary)

My life is movement.

If somebody watches me during sculpturing he or she says it looks like massage or a dance with clay.

When I teach movement or I do movement, I feel like sculpturing with the space around me.
To press, to release, to form.

My paintings, drawings and sculptures are movement studies without real forms. I didn’t want to catch the forms but the process of forming. Not the fruit or the flower, which are always changing and growing but the growth and change itself, which will form the material once.

The movements in the drawings, sculptures and paintings rather touch the material than really form it. They are coming and suddenly disappearing.

I am trying to reserve the experience of easy and light forming before stucking in material.

COURSE CONTENT

The purpose of the workshop is to understand and utilize the opportunities for shaping forms inherent in molding errors. We will learn how to prepare a multi-part plaster molding form, which allows us to shape the internal and external forms of the final object.

  • The workshop begins with a screening of projections, the first part of which consists of the presentation of Zsolt József Simon's works, allowing us to observe and understand this special molding procedure.
  • The second half of the screening will demonstrate the creation of a specific item from the beginning to the final stages.
  • Participants begin working on their individual plans or based on one of Zsolt's items, through individual consultation, before everyone starts creating their own plaster form.
  • All participants will create a different form, allowing us to learn from each other's work.
  • We will go through the entire process from mixing the plaster, sawing, sanding and assembling the plaster form all the way to the porcelain casting.
  • Participants must bring the following tools required for the casting and forming the plaster: download here

The workshop language will be Hungarian and English.

KREATÍV ÖNTÉSI TECHNIKA
Simon Zsolt József

2017. szeptember 18-22
